Limited liability company "LDZ ritošā sastāva serviss" (RSS) has concluded an agreement with Riga Technical University on cooperation in training of railway specialists and introduction of the latest technologies into railway industry.
The cooperation agreement that was signed between RTU and RSS in January ,this year, will be effective for five years, and provides for cooperation in training of railway specialists, introduction of the latest scientific findings and application of materials, potentially also in usage of 3D printing technologies. RTU and RSS will also collaborate in the field of scientific research, providing involvement of the future railway specialists in scientific research and practical training.
The agreement also provides for preparation of joint applications for projects and grants, cooperation among the laboratories in material testing and organising of professional upgrading processes, which means that RTU and RSS will organise conferences, training courses and seminars for RSS employees and the students of RTU will have a possibility to practice at the company and acquire the practical skills necessary for their future profession.
Railway specialists are educated at Institute of Railway Transport of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Transport and Aeronautics of RTU, and already before VAS "Latvijas dzelzceļš" (Latvian Railways) and RTU have implemented several joint projects, for instance, jointly establishing laboratories for railway traffic needs.
